Welcome to Project iWear website.

Project

The Project iWear is working with Soft- and Hardware concerning mobile computers.

Since we have moved from a german university environment to an open website, we are currently translating all relevant data into english. Until this is done, we apologize for the things not yet translated. Maybe google translation will be a help for you until then.

Framework

The iWear Framework consists of several modules - therefore only the ones required for a task or application have to be installed. The currently existing modules are iWear - Core, iWear - RPC, iWear - Power, iWear - Database Bibliothek, iWear - Context Bibliothek, iWear - UI Services Bibliothek, iWear - Utility Bibliothek,iWear - Sensor Bibliothek,iWear - Location Bibliothek, iWear - GPS Bibliothek, iWear - serial Multi Sensor Bibliothek, iWear - Output, iWear - Output Griffin, iWear - Output Audio Bibliothek, iWear - Standard Output Bibliothek, iWear - Input, iWear - X11 Input Modul, iWear - IO Warrior, iWear - Map Service and iWear - Voice Transmission Service.

We try to strictily follow our Design Rules.

The nightly build of the complete API Documentation of the source in the repository can be found here.

A TODO list containing open tasks is also existing.

The progress of the main development line is shown here as a subversion log. In the Timeline you can also browse the overall progress.

Bugreports may be submitted in our Bugtracker by everyone who spots one - but have a look on the known bugs first, please.

Demo Applications

Using the components of our framework we wrote some applications to emphasize some of its features. These applications are the AudioPlayer, the MarkAssistant as well as the RouteTracker.

Downloads

The whole bundle of software may be downloaded for free (licensed under the GPL) in our download section.

Latest addition is the first alpha version of the iWear RPC System.

In case you wondered, this is a mediawiki running on postgresql 8.1. Yes, that is really possible, and it was not so hard, it is just that the mediawiki project does not want to support it. See http://www.projectiwear.org/~plasmahh/software.html on how we did it. Update: We have upgraded to mediawiki 1.8.x und surprisingly some of our changes, well magically made it in a modified form into mediawiki. No comment on this, but 1.8.x needs far fewer patches than the older versions. And if we have time we put it into the download area too.

Hardware

For testing we also worked on some hardware especially concerning mobile computing - the sensors, SHADOW and the backpack.
